The authors are of the opinion that it will be elucidating to students and veterinary surgeons to have available a full colour photographic atlas of thetreatment of the most important surgical conditions. We have attempted toshow the essential steps of each procedure, accompanied by pertinent butlimited text. It often has been a challenge to find a balance between text andphotographs and at the same time to meet the requirements of adequate description, within the limitations of the concept of this atlas.
The majority of presented techniques, espacially those concerning the bovine species and other food animals, can be carried out in general practice. However, a number of advanced techniques which can not be performed without hospital facilities are included.
