This book is intended to make a beginning in this direction by discussing in detail the principles and conceptsof extension, growth and development of India’s rural reconstruction and community development, the current Panchayati Raj system, animal husbandry programmes and co-operatives, rural sociology, educational psychology, extension systems, extension methods and aids, communication of innovations, programme planning, evaluation and livestock marketing extension.
A textbook remains valuable only when it is modified to take account of new developments. This edition is thoroughly revised and greatly enriched in both quality and quantity. A few new chapters have been added. Most of the examples given have been taken from Indian experience in general and my own experience in particular. It would be highly fitting, to express my sincere gratitude to the predecessors who have authored books on extension education in community development, which gave an insight into various concepts in the field of
extension.
